A suit is a set of clothing comprising a lounge jacket, and trousers. Other types of women suits include: skirt suit and dress suit. Suits are offered in different designs and constructions. Cut, and cloth, whether two- or three-piece, single- or double-breasted, vary, in addition to various accessories such as waistcoat/vest, hat (fedora/trilby/flat cap), suspenders, watch, lapel pins, pocket square.
Women’s suits can also be worn with white or coloured blouses or tops or t-shirts.
The word suit derives from the French suite, meaning “following”, from some Late Latin derivative form of the Latin verb sequor = “I follow”, because the component garments (jacket and trousers and waistcoat) follow each other and have the same cloth and colour and are worn together.
Women’s suits come in a larger variety of colours such as darks, pastels, and gem colours. Fabrics used to make suits include: wool, cotton, corduroy, seersucker, tweed, velvet, polyester.
Suits can be worn professionally – for interviews, to the office, business meetings or a night out or hangouts, just add a touch of femininity to the look in the form of accessories.
