Don’t you think the shoulders are the most flattering part of a woman’s body to show off? This season is all about shrugging off your sleeves and giving the cold shoulders.
In this post, I am going to talk about a trend that has made a massive come back this season. It is the off-the-shoulder dress. Yes! This shoulder bearing trend is one of this summer’s must have piece. It is easy to pull off, age appropriate for almost everyone and also perfect for all body types. You don’t have to be a size 4 or 6 to rock this dress. It is definitely a trend to try on this summer season. Show off your sun-kissed shoulders in this silhouette. What I love about it is its versatility. It is suitable for big events, brunch dates, work, dinner and beach days. It is actually one of my go-to choice for any exclusive event. This trend is absolutely my current obsession because it’s effortless, feminine and chic!
Dare to go bare this summer with this season’s statement silhouette. Guess what? You don’t have to show of too much skin or your cleavage to look sexy. This time around, the shoulders are the new cleavage. Opt for an off-the-shoulder dress for a flirty and chic look.
Here are 6 tips on how to rock the off-the-shoulder dress;
- You don’t necessarily need a necklace to rock this dress. Let your collarbone and skin do the talking.
- Don’t over accessorize. Keep it simple.
- Make a statement with dangle or drop earrings.
- Always “think low”. Pull the top down and let it just sit above your breast line.
- Clutch it. Always choose a clutch over a shoulder bag or a cross-body bag.
- Wear the right bra. It is very important the bra doesn’t peek out of the dress. A strapless bra can work perfectly for this dress.
Now let’s talk about this gorgeous dress I am wearing! It is a white high-low dress with pleated details and an elasticised neckline. The fabric is very light and perfect for warm summer days. To combine sexiness with sophistication, I complimented the dress with a pair of burnt orange block heels and a woven orange clutch with gold details. As usual, I kept it simple with the accessories to avoid distraction since this dress is dramatic in its own way. Always remember less is more and keeping it simple is key when styling an off-the-shoulder dress.
Ps: I will be talking about how to style the off-the-shoulder top in my next post.
